TWO OBSERVATION DECKS  IN THE TOKYO METROPOLITAN BUILDING

Tokyo metropolitan main offices are located west of JR Shinjuku station behind Keio Plaza Hotel.
We can get there about 5 minute on foot from the western exit of the station or one minute from
Tochomae station of Oedo municipal subway line.
The main building has 48 floors and its height is 243meters, the second highest in Tokyo
after Midtown building of 248 meters in Roppongi.
Two observation decks are on the forty fifth floor in the southern and northern tower, and
the elevators reach to the 45th floor in 55 seconds from the first floor.
The two observation decks of 202 meters high stay open from 9:30 to 17:30, and only the northern
until 23:00. One can go up there free of charge from the first
floor. One can see the central districts of Tokyo, the bay area and Yokohama and Kawasaki cities
in south very well form the southern observation deck and western and northern Tokyo from
the northern. Mainly in the winter when it is very fine, the Mt. FUJI is seen form up there.
It is 120 km away form Tokyo.

We see the southern suburbs of Tokyo,
residential areas in Kanagawa Prefecture,
and Tanba and Hakone ranges behind them.

city.behind and Yoyogi park very near.

and Yoyogi park at right.

We see many tall buildings of Marunouchi
at back left and those of Shiodome at back
right and the Harumi pier in Tokyo bay
at back.

A group of buildings is in Ohtemachi and
Marunouchi, among which is Tokyo station.
The forest of the Imperial Palace is seen far
in front of the group of the high rise buildings.

The Sky tree of 634 meters high under
construction is seen far at left.
The building with a big blue sign board on is
Kiev department store and behind it there are
platforms of JR Shinjuku station.

The mountains are seen far behind the suburb
and from time to time in the winter Mt. FUJI
is seen over them.
These are a group of building in southern
Shinjuku area by the Tokyo Metropolitan Office
Tokyo tower, Tokyo Midtown, Roppongi Hills
are seen in the center and Tokyo bay further.
