HAMARIKYU GARDEN
This garden was constructed in 1654 for Tokugawa shoguns for falconry and
served
for them during Edo period. There are a few big ponds with sea water.
It is open to the public from 9:00 morning to 5:00 afternoon except on
29 December to
1 January. The garden is located 12 minutes walk from Shimbashi stations
of JR and
Ginza subway line. From OHOTEMON of the garden we take 7 minutes walk to
Tokyo TSUKIJI JOGAI Market.
This is a water gate where sea water
enter the ponds.
This single pine tree is called "a pine tree of
300 years" due to its longevity
This is the front gate to the garden.
This is a mound to watch and capture wild ducks
during Edo period.
OHOTEMON bridge to enter the garden,
under which there is salt water channel.
This is the biggest sea water pond, SHIOIRI-
NO-IKE.High-rise buildings in Shiodome district
are seen from the garden.
This is ,NAKAJIMA-BASHI bridge.
An acoustic bus from Asakusa is leaving
for Hinode wharf.
