AZALEA

Azalea is called "Tsutsuji" in Japanese and one of the most popular flowers in Japan.
Azaleas bloom in April after cherry blossoms fall. They are generally planted along the streets,
in gardens and precincts of temples and shrines and so on.
They are in full bloom for a month from the middle of April, meanwhile cherry trees in blossom
for one or two weeks only from the end of March in Tokyo area.
Azalea has a wide variety of colors
such as red, pink, purple, white, yellow, etc.

We see many azaleas on the slope in the precincts.
