Mt. FUJI
Mt. FUJI, the highest mountain in Japan, is about 120 kilometers west of
Tokyo and
3,776 meters high. It shows a beautifully conical shape soaring up from
the coast.
It is one of 86 active volcanos in Japan and erupted lastly in 1707 and
1708.
For us, Japanese it is not only a symbol of Japan but also a religious
object.
At the same time, all of the world thinks that Mt. FUJI is a representative
image of Japan
same as those of cherry blossoms and geisha girls. UNESCO designated Mt.
FUJI and
its surrounding area as world cultural heritage in June 2013.
